A Little Information About the Shiner ABBC
The Shiner Area Big Buck Contest is Texas’ premier Big Buck contest finding its beginnings back in 1981. The contest is comprised of Lavaca County and four of its neighbors, Dewitt County, Gonzales County, Fayette County and Colorado County. The largest bucks harvested within each county, with the exception of Fayette and Colorado counties, which are a combined contest, are tallied with daily updates. Prizes and bragging rights are awarded at the Awards Banquet held in February after the contest concludes. The Shiner Big Buck Contest has become a local tradition with most hunters entering every year, appreciating the camaraderie and good food at the awards banquet and enjoying some friendly competition.
